Field Diaries 14 Thursday , 18 March, 2021 Topic : Analysis of two-dimensional variables. Objective : Concept definition workshop with R studio to refine predictions. Shared resources: Blogger.com moodle.utmachala.edu.ec Google.com R Studio Brief Summary of what was exposed in classes A two-dimensional variable is a variable in which each individual is defined by a pair of characters, (X, Y). These two characters are in turn statistical variables in which there is a relationship between them, one of the two variables is the independent variable and the other is the dependent variable. Personal Conclusions We learned new commands within rstudio to be able to apply them in our future research and also to become more familiar with these topics. Task Practising what you have learned.

Field Diaries 13 Tuesday, 16 March, 2021 Topic : Feedback Objective : Analyse the differents dispersion measures Shared resources: Blogger.com moodle.utmachala.edu.ec Google.com Brief Summary of what was exposed in classes Interquartile range We did a lot of feedback from past classes, looked at past general topics and the teacher took some in-class performances asking questions based on these topics. Among what we reviewed we can find: Ways to find the mean, median, mean, median and mode and about dispersion: interquartile range and standard deviation.. Personal Conclusions The class was very useful because it helped to remember the basic concepts of the past topics, which are very important in statistics. Task Practising what you have learned.

Field Diaries #12 Thursday, March 09, 2021 Topic : Regression Objective : Analyse the Regression in statistics  Blogger.com moodle.utmachala.edu.ec Google.com Brief Summary of what was exposed in classes Regression analysis It fits a line on this messy dot plot, X is called the independent or predictor variable, and Y is the dependent variable or response to the regression line. The idea is to minimize the total distance of the Y values to the line, find the squared distances of ay to the line and guamis it to obtain the sum of squared errors (SSE). ANOVA It is the ratio of the relative error to the total dispersion . Coefficient of determination It is the ratio of all the SSyy explainable by the regression. R2 is always less than 1, the closer it is to 1 the more accurate the curve fit. R2= 1 corresponds to perfect fit. Correlation coefficient It is the square roo...

Field Diaries #11 Thursday, March 04, 2021 Topic : Descriptive statistics Objective : Perform descriptive statistical processes with the use of the R Studio tool.  Shared resources: Blogger.com moodle.utmachala.edu.ec R Studio Brief Summary of what was exposed in classes We did statistical calculations that we have done before, but thanks to this location everything was done with just one click. First we had to put the text code and then execute it. With a specific code we can perform any statistical calculation, such as calculating the median, mean, dispersion or perform a Box and Whiskers plot. Personal Conclusions We learned briefly how to use a software, which will help us a lot to make calculations very fast and it will be more dynamic to do a job. Task Practising what you have learned.            ...

Field Diaries #10 Thusday, February 25th, 2021 Topic : Analysis of variables Objective :  To develop a workshop on statistical calculations to reinforce the contents learned in data analysis in one dimension. Shared resources: Blogger.com moodle.utmachala.edu.ec Google.com Excel Brief Summary of what was exposed in classes We perform different types of techniques to be able to sort statistical data within a table in order to have a faster access to them. We used dynamic tables to perform this work and we also made some statistical graphs of them. Personal Conclusions I learned how to sort a database according to what we are looking for, in order to filter the information and present it in a better way. Task We have to solve some problems in some excel sheets.                             ...

Diaries 9

Field Diaries #9 Date: February 18th, 2021 Topic : Dispersión measures Objective : Analyse the differents dispersion measures Shared resources: Blogger.com moodle.utmachala.edu.ec Google.com Brief Summary of what was exposed in classes Interquartile range It involves dividing data into four equal groups and observing the separation of distance from extreme groups. Sort the data numerically.  Divide the data by the m edian into two equal parts (if the median coincides with a piece of data, include it in both groups).  Calculate the median of the lower group. That is the first quartile.  The median of the upper group is the third quartile. Standard deviation (also standard deviation)  Unlike the iqr, which is calculated from medians, the standard deviation measures the dispersion of the data from the mean. an intuitive way to view it is a...
